Meet Expedition Motor Company, Alex Levin's commitment to building the most authentically restored vintage Mercedes G-Wagens on the market. During his career in private equity and commercial real estate, Alex rediscovered his childhood passion for the G-Wagen amidst restoring 2 250GDs for his personal collection. During this process, he came to find that properly restoring a Wolf was particularly challenging. After many months of restoration, Alex had two fully restored 250GDs. Once he got to enjoy them anew, he realized the potential within every 250GD Wolf and decided to share his passion for this model with the world.
A word from Alex:
"I know what you're thinking, classic BS founding story about the childhood connection blah blah blah. But I can honestly tell you that I hold a deep connection with these trucks. I frequently reminisce with my dad about the times he used to let me drive on his lap in our family's G. These trucks, particularly the 250GD, are really really special. Our builds present an interesting automotive paradox. On one hand, our product is a beautiful convertible vintage Mercedes that receives over 2,300 man-hours of attention. On the other hand, it is an extremely rugged military vehicle that was getting shot at one point. This ‘old school cool’ is something that is becoming hard to find in the automotive space, but we are proud to be a force keeping it alive."

Here at EMC, we take preserving the 250GD's storied history very seriously. As a result of this, we strive to utilize as much of the original truck as possible while also ensuring a product that we are proud of. In our eyes, if we omit components such as the ammunitions box, folding windshield , or original OM602 diesel engine, we would effectively be stripping the Wolf of it's identity. That being said, we have also invested tens of thousands of hours in R&D to fabricate parts that enhance the driving experience. We pay homage while also committing to
excellence.
Our Values
While Expedition Motor Company is outwardly fueled on passion for the 250GD, we are also proud of our commitment to preserving the analog automotive experience. In a time where cars are becoming numb and nanny-laden, we are happy to confirm that our trucks do not drive themselves.

Der Geländewagen
The Geländewagen's history is a storied one dating back to the 1970's. The boxy truck that we know and love was developed due to a request from the Shah of Iran to create a military vehicle capable of conquering any terrain.
The Geländewagen's history is a storied one dating back to the 1970's. The boxy truck that we know and love was developed due to a request from the Shah of Iran to create a military vehicle capable of conquering any terrain. The initial designs of the vehicle generated so much buzz, that Mercedes-Benz ended up evolving the model for civilian use. In 1979, the first G-Wagen rolled out of the factory in Graz, Austria being marketed as the "G-Model". Here, the Mercedes Geländewagen was born with a contemporary design and an adventure-ready demeanor. Thanks to its military influence, the civilian G-Wagen was built to be reliable and extremely capable in the world's most unforgiving environments.
In one of a few departures from the Geländewagen's rugged nature, Mercedes released a more luxurious version of the model in 1989 due to growing demand for a more plush experience. Here at EMC, we obsess over finding the optimal balance between modern-day usability and that magical vintage charm. We do our best to infuse all of our G-Wagens with a modern flare while guaranteeing the true nature of these 4x4s is not lost, but pronounced.
Der Wolf
This, ladies and gentleman, is our bread and butter. "Wolf" was a nickname given to the military spec Geländewagens, particularly the 250GD. This variant of the G-Wagen was the no nonsense, purposed-built 4x4, catered to a soldier's needs in the face of a combat environment.

The Wolf takes the G-Class' impressive reliability and off road prowess, and turns the dial to 11.
These vehicles were equipped with combat-ready features such as an ammo box, a machine gun mount, a folding windshield for turret operation, a utility shovel, and a map light for nighttime operations. This was by no means the model being sold at your local Mercedes-Benz dealer. We love nothing more than rescuing a lone Wolf and welcoming it to our pack. We cherish our commitment to maintaining as many of the original military-spec components in all our restorations, it adds a tremendous amount of character to each vehicle. From the convertible design to the original Mercedes OM602 diesel, every aspect of an EMC Wolf contributes to a momentous experience.
